DO YOU KNOW HOW TO “SET ZERO OF A SCOPE”?

WELCOME TO VISIT THIS BLOG OF VECTOR OPTICS ONLINE STORE.

As we know, when we start to use a new scope for shooting, you must know we need to set it zero. But we often are asked how to set by our customers  long range rifle scope

Today let us introduce this particularly.

Before we set zero, we need to zero it firstly.

WHAT IS “ZEROING A SCOPE?

Zeroing a scope is to align the POA (“point of aim”) and the POI (“point of impact”) at a specific distance when you use it first time. So that you are able to hit accurately where you’re aiming at.

HOW TO ZERO?

1. SHOOT IN 50M OR 100M OR OTHER DISTANCE YOU WANT.

2. ADJUST THE ELEVATION AND WINDAGE

3. SHOOT AGAIN

4. BACK TO THE STAGE 2 SEVERAL TIMES UNTIL THE POA IS ALIGNED WITH THE POI

5. DONE

In many cases, you will find when the scope was at “zero”, the turret cap maybe isn’t at the position of the marked “0”.

So, in order to facilitate our shooting, we need to “reset zero”.

HOW TO RESET ZERO?

For different turret caps, reset zero is done differently. Here we take two turret caps from Vector Optics as an example.

  • Marksman Series Scope

① Loosen the center screw with the wrench and take it off.

② Take off the turret cap.

③ Align the mark ‘0’ on the turret cap with the click marker on the scope.

④ Tighten the center screw with the wrench; Done.

  • Continental 30mm Tactical Series Scope

① Loosen the 3 screws on the side of the turret cap with the hex key.

② Take off the turret cap; keep the crews carefully.

③ Align the mark ‘0’ on the turret cap with the click marker on the scope.

④ Tighten all the 3 screws with the hex key; Done.

In addition, in these cases, please don’t forget that you also need to zero and reset the scope again.

1. IF YOU CHANGE ANOTHER GUN OR SCOPE AND RE-INSTALL THE SCOPE.

2. BEFORE YOU WANT TO USE THE SCOPE WITH “ZERO-STOP” FUNCTION.
