Angel Di Maria admits he is not sure he can get a place in the Argentine national team for the 2022 Qatar World Cup. Until now, he has not found a new club after parting from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) at the end of the 2021-2022 season.

Along with Lionel Messi, the 34-year-old winger is an experienced player in Lionel Scaloni’s squad.

Both of them helped bring the Albiceleste to end the 28-year wait for a major title by winning the 2021 America’s Cup. Thanks to Di Maria’s single goal, Argentina won victory over Brazil in the final.

“One player who is definitely in is Lionel Messi,” Di Maria told TNT Sports when asked about his chance to go to the World Cup finals for a fourth time.

“Four months from now you don’t know, I have to change clubs, adapt again, play and feel good and it will make a lot of difference.”

Although his role in the Argentine national team has been irreplaceable since the Copa America, Angel Di Maria was left out of the team in the World Cup qualifiers some time ago.

He is also aware that there is no guarantee for him to get a place in the Albiceleste squad, especially when he is without a club. The senior player bid farewell to PSG at the end of the 2021-2022 season after seven years at the Parc des Princes.

Di Maria is reportedly interested in two big clubs, namely Juventus and Barcelona.

“Juventus is the biggest club in the world and one of the teams that I am interested in. Right now I’m thinking about everything, but I’m focused on my vacation and my family,” said Angel Di Maria.

“Barcelona are one of the best teams in the world and I always have to play against them!”

As Angel Di Maria said, his performance with a new club next season will certainly be an important factor in being able to make him selected for the Argentine national team that will compete in the 2022 World Cup.
